Residential Roofing in Matteson
As a homeowner, it's important to pick a good roofing contractor. The right contractor can help you maximize the life of your roof, avoid running into problems after installation, and make your experience a breeze. At Allied, we strive to be that contractor! Here's what our typical process looks like for a residential roof installation:
1. Initial Inspection
We always start with a thorough roof inspection to assess the damage. If there's no cause for concern, you won't need to replace your roof. Sometimes, roof leaks that are caused by minor items (like nail pops, for example) can be fixed with a simple repair. This inspection will help us to thoroughly diagnose the condition of your roof and make a good recommendation.
2. Material Selection
We offer a variety of roofing materials for you to choose from. We’ll hear what your preferences are, and after discussing your budget, we’ll give you the best recommendations we can. Here install standard shingles, premium designer shingles, and cedar shake shingles. We do metal roofs as well.
3. Old Roof Demolition
After having materials delivered and setting up a dumpster for waste, we'll get to work removing the old roofing materials. Once we get down to the roof decking (the layer that supports all other roofing materials) we'll be able to assess it's condition. If your decking is rotting or otherwise severely damaged, it will be important to replace the decking as well.
4. New Roof Installation
We'll carefully install your new roofing materials with precision craftmanship!
5. Final Clean Up
After we finish working on your roof, we'll clean up excess materials and any debris that may have fallen into your yard. We also go over your lawn with roller magnets to find any nails that may have fallen. Wrapping that up, our job will be complete!
Maximizing The Life of Your Roof
We take pride in our workmanship. In fact, we offer workmanship warranties of up to 50 years! This is because there are 2 major things we do to maximize the life of your Matteson roof.
1. We Use High Quality Materials
The life of your new roof highly depends on the type of materials you use. We use high quality, architectural shingles or better. We also use synthetic underlayment, which is known to be much more effective than the traditional felt underlayment.
2. Expert Installation by Certified Contractors
The way your roof is installed with also effect it's life. For example, if flashing isn't installed neatly with a tight seal, your chances for a leak springing are much higher. That's why we use certified, highly skilled contractors to do the work. We want to help your new roof last as long as possible.
Roof Replacement Cost
The typical cost for a roof replacement falls somewhere between $10,000 and $20,000. Here are a few factors that affect the cost:
Roof Size
The larger your roof is, the more the raw roofing material will cost. This includes decking, underlayment, flashing, shingles, vents, etc.
Roof Pitch
Roof pitch is the steepness of your roof, and it's typically measured by calculating how much the elevation increases by how close you are to the peak. For example, a roof with a 12/12 pitch (12 inches of incline for every 12 inches toward the center) would be a perfect 45 degree angle. Roofs that aren't as steep, with a 4/12 pitch for example, are much easier to complete than steep roofs. This is because they can be walked without extra safety equipment. But steep roofs (8/12 pitch and above) are much more difficult and require more safety precautions. This makes the more expensive jobs to complete.
Roof Complexity (Number of Facets)
A roof facet is a single "face" of the roof. For example, a perfectly flat roof would have one facet. A simple gable roof with two slopes that join at a peak has two facets. Most homes normally have somewhere between two and six facets. The more facets your roof has, the more complex the job. More flashing needs to be installed, and there is more roofing material waste.
Number of Stories
The more stories your home has, the more risky and time-consuming the job will be for roof installers. Roofing a home with two or more stories will cost a lot more than a home with a single story.
Materials
The cost to replace a roof can be greatly increased by the type of materials you use. If it's within your budget, designer shingles can add a unique and beautiful look to your home, but they will cost more than architectural shingles. Cedar shake shingles will cost more as well.
Roof Decking Condition
Until we take off the old roofing materials, we won't know the condition of your roof decking. The decking sits underneath your roof underlayment and shingles, and is the base layer of your roof. If your decking is rotted, it will need to be replaced, which would result in a higher roof replacement cost. If your decking is in good condition, however, we can install the new roofing materials right over top of it without additional cost.
Summary
Most roofs fall within the $10,000 to $20,000 range. If you have a smaller roof one a one story home, with only a few facets, and you use architectural shingles, you'll be on the lower end of that number. However, if you have a more complex roof with more surface area, and a two story home, you'll be looking at paying the higher end of that number. If you use high-end shingles the cost could be much higher.
Please note: none of these numbers are final, and to get an accurate quote of what it will cost replace your roof, we'll need to do an inspection.
What Customers Are Saying
If you need a new roof, you should call ARC. George (the owner) made the whole process so much easier for us. Any project is stressful enough so I appreciated his hard work. We ended up filing a claim with our home owners insurance, as we had some storm damage. He worked with the insurance adjusters to make sure we were taken care of. And dealt with things I didn’t understand. He is very knowledgeable as he has been doing this for many years. I was stressed about picking out the right roof color (I didn’t care for the old roof) and he took that concern seriously and helped by showing us other houses he had worked on recently. We chose the perfect color! We also had a special order skylight that was being replaced and George measured a few times to make sure it was accurate and made sure the right skylight was installed. The work was done quickly and stress free thanks to George.
Great company! George and his team were fantastic. They handled everything from getting the work approved through my insurance and then quickly getting the job scheduled and completed. Hassle-free experience with ARC. Thanks
I recently used Allied Restoration Contractors for siding installation and gutter/soffit/fascia replacement. I am very satisfied with the product and service received. Everyone is very nice and responsive. The workmanship is A+. I really appreciate the attention I received from George, in helping me make the right decisions for my home. I have already recommended the company to others and will continue to do so. I’ll definitely reach out again for my next home project.
Types of Roofs We Install
Standard Shingles
We offer a variety of standard shingle styles for maximum water resistance, durability, and budget-friendliness. There are a variety of different styles and colors available for you to choose from. The right color can add flourish and curb appeal to your home. The vast majority of Illinois homeowners choose shingle roofs, and most standard asphalt shingles last between 15-30 years.
Premium Designer Shingles
We offer a premium selection of designer shingles for homeowners who are looking for something with a little more glamor. The cost for luxury designer shingles is higher. However, typically designer shingles are thicker, which means some of the cost is recouped due to higher durability and a longer-lasting roof.
Cedar Shake
Cedar shake roofs serve the same function as asphalt roofs, but are made of natural cedar materials, giving the roof a more traditional and aesthetically pleasing appearance. Typically cedar roofs last between 30-50 years with proper maintenance. If you have the budget, cedar roofs are a beautiful option!
Standard Shingles
For homeowners on a budget, we install standard, high-quality asphalt shingles from GAF, CertainTeed, or Owens Corning.
Designer Shingles
Make a statement and go for a more distinguished look with high-end designer shingles.
Cedar Shake
For a classic, beautiful look, we install cedar shake shingles.

Signs it Might Be Time to Replace Your Roof
Here are the biggest warning signs it's time to replace your roof:
1. Attic Leak
You can often spot a leak in your attic by what looks like coffee stains on the top floor of your home. This is water that leaks from the ceiling and usually becomes discolored with a brownish hue. Alternatively, you can head up into your attic and see if you spot any visible leaks. But be careful not to fall through the insulation, as not all attics are designed to be walked in. If your roof has a leak, you should get a roof inspection right away. You'll either need to replace your roof or have the leak patched with a simple repair.
2. Sagging Roof
As roofs age and the roof decking becomes less sound, they can begin to sag. This is a sign that your roof is very warn and may need to be replaced soon. If unsound roofs are left unattended for long enough, leaks can form and cause even more damage to the interior of your home.
3. Recent Hail Storm
Even if a hail storm doesn't cause an immediate leak, they can cause other damage that 's less apparent. For example, they can knock granules off of your roof shingles, leading to your shingles deteriorating more quickly. Unless it's a very minor hail storm with tiny bits of hail, calling out a roofer after a hail storm for an inspection is a good precaution to take.
